 welcome to rhinerart

Karen Rhiner is an award-winning colored pencil artist who enjoys drawing the world from a slightly different angle. She is a member of West Coast Drawing, San Diego Art Institute, and the Colored Pencil Society of America.

I'm not content to draw a pretty flower and leave it alone. It's much more fun to contrast it with something seemingly unrelated and come up with a statement to make people think.

As a result, a lot of my work concerns the nexus between man and nature, such as "The Watchers." Some of my drawings are social commentary, such as "Babble." And some are personal narratives: I've done drawings about my mother, my daughter, my husband, and a cousin we lost in 2004.
